The name Selbach-Oster will be a familiar one to German wine aficionados as vintage in and vintage out, they are rated among the highest by the critics.
Selbach Oster have quietly been producing some of the best Rieslings in Germany. They are still openly affordable and a must for any cellar.

My last bottle unfortunately because this is absolutely terrific. Notes of mandarin, pear, red apple, honey and wax. Good acidity as well, subtle sweetness, pepper. Great balance and precision.
Two years since my last bottle, and this remains at peak, and as close to perfect Mosel Spätlese as I can imagine. Lightly singed fruit, firm acidity, modest sweetness – it’s perfect (again) balance. Given the trajectory of this wine I can see it cruising along for 10-20 more years with no danger of decline.
