Carmenère was originally grown in Bordeaux and taken to Chile by the early European settlers. In Europe, this varietal was then wiped out by the Phylloxera plague in the late nineteenth century, and is now only successfully grown from the original rootstock in Chile.
This wine is hand picked from 3 small plots of vines in the Maule Valley, and matured for 8 months in French oak, giving it structure and complexity, whilst retaining its dark fruit qualities.
