Founded in 1903, Famiglia Castellani, based in Pontedera near Pisa, have been producing wine for over 120 years. A historic family business, Castellani are known for producing some of the finest classic wines in Tuscany
Piergiorgio Castellani is the 4th generation owner of Castellani, who oversees the estates.
This is a Chianti that takes you directly to Tuscany. We met up with the producer in London and soon after showcased seven of their wines for an Italian tasting in Colchester. This was one of the highlights of a great evening.
Dark and brooding red colour tending to garnet with ageing. Intense fruity bouquet with violet and red currant fragrance backed by notes of bitter dark chocolate. This Chianti likes spicy pasta dishes that work with its dry and lightly tannic structure.
