An extremely limited offering of mature Nuits Saint Georges purchased by Williams Chase in barrels to form part of their Burgundy Negociant Portfolio. We recently tasted through their offering and thought this was exceedingly good.
This mature but sprightly wine sticks to the glass and creates perfect patterns like fine wine should. Fruit forward with elegant notes of raspberries and cherries. Medium body with soft satisfying tannins. Red fruits on the mid-palate balanced with a smoky long finish.
Originally known as Nuits, or even Nuits-sous-Beaune, the town was happy to add the name of its finest vineyard, Les St Georges, in the 19th century. There are no Grands Crus, but many fine Premier Cru vineyards,
The wines of Nuits-St Georges vary according to their exact provenance. This wine has the finesse of a wine from the Vosne Romanée end of the Cotes de Nuits and is a fine example of a wine ready to drink or can be cellared for a few more years.
