Established in 1795 The Kuentz-Bas Estate is located in Husseren Les Chateaux, the village with the highest altitude on the Alsace wine road, and located on the foothills of the Trois Chateaux (three castles) of Eguisheim the estate owns 12 hectares of vines exclusively on steep hills. Fresh fruit and white flowers dominate the nose, with suggestions of something smoky. Fresh, balanced and fruity palate, with added texture and body due to the addition of Auxerrois (Alsatian grape variety related to the Chardonnay grape)
A clean-cut nose of green pear leads onto an equally clean-cut palate of fresh pear. There is freshness and lots of lemony brightness on the light but precise palate. This is appetizing and moreish.
