The Selbach family has a long viticultural history dating back to 1661. Today, the Mitte Mosel estate is run by Johannes and Barbara Selbach with help from their children. The family farms 25 ha of vines in Zeltingen (Himmelreich, Sonnenuhr and Schlossberg) and Graach (Himmelreich and Domprobst), and out of these 6.5 ha are farmed organically where the rest follows sustainable practices. More than a half of their vineyards are planted on their own rootstocks and the majority are on very steep slopes, necessitating cultivation and harvesting by hand.

Critic Reviews:

90/100, Wine Enthusiast A delicate wine, this offers baking spice, yellow apple and cardamom notes that find equilibrium midpalate, where a streak of savoury mineral is introduced. The finish is well defined and inviting.

94/100 Falstaff  This opens with a shy nose where primary fruit does not play first fiddle, floral notes, herbs, slate spice, minerality, a hint of white shoe polish. On the palate there is a lot of texture, gripping, feisty extract and enormous density, integrated acidity, mineral and long.

95/100 Robert Parker  The Wine Advocate.
