Baron de Ley Rioja Gran Reserva 2014

A mature Rioja Gran Reserva. We have had some good old bottles over the years.

The grapes are hand harvested and sorted at Baron de Lay giving them the optimum selection from their extensive vineyards. It has a deliciously tempting garnet colour with orange flecks to the rim and sticks to the glass making those appealing arch windows that good wines possess. Cracked black pepper and spice box are first out of the glass followed by dried red fruits and desirable old leather and woody aromas. The palate is thick with red and black fruits and has that creamy flavour from its years in quality oak barrels. Showing its age now so time to drink up, perfect to be savoured with roast beef or lamb.
