An ‘embarrassment of riches’ does not adequately sum up the holdings of this venerable Burgundy house. in the last 6 or 8 years, its wines have knocked the competition to the side, making a comeback as stunning as the great Muhammed Ali ever achieved! Like a phoenix rising from the flames, the domaine has had a remarkable turnaround in quality of production. there have been many success stories in the Burgundy region amongst the grand ‘Maisons’ in the last decade or so, but the ascent across these 4 separate estates (presided over by Alberic Bichot) must surely be the greatest of all. Heading the 6th generation of family wine production, the breakthroughs span from Chablis to the Côte Chalonnaise, all the way to the magical Côte d’or. There is no obvious ‘house style’ in the wines, no lazy factory style of production: the wines from each appellation are made in their respective region of production at one of the family owned Domaines and it shows. the ethos of transparency and terroir presides, each wine treated according its merits in vinification and elevage. The results are nothing short of tremendous. And it has not gone unnoticed – the wine press have now awoken to their charms in no uncertain terms. In blind tastings across Europe the wines have triumphed over all-comers including the stellar domaines like DRC, Rousseau, De Vogue and Ponsot. You name it. they really are that good!
